Helen Skelton, who is a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing, announced she had split from her estranged husband Richie Myler in April after eight years of marriage. The mum-of-three reflected on her life as a single woman as she opened up about dating.

The 39-year-old spoke candidly in a new interview and admitted there is not much room in her life for a partner right now.

The Countryfile presenter said she had a lot in life to be “thankful for” including the former couple’s three children, Ernie, seven, Louis, five, and baby Elsie, who is nine months old.

Helen explained she does not ever see herself as a “victim”.

The on-screen star touched on the Strictly curse and admitted it was not on her “radar” as she addressed dating in the future.

“It’s not really on my radar, no,” Helen commented. “People keep saying, ‘you’ll find someone wonderful!’

“And I’m like, ‘I’ve got three wonderful beings,'” referring to her children.

The presenter also shared a conversation she recently shared with a friend – a successful doctor – recently purchased a property in London but has remained single.

Helen’s pal told the Strictly star: “’I really love my life, why am I going to bring any drama into it with a man?’”

Following the dancing duo’s routine, Gorka began: “Can I just say something?

“I know you have been having a difficult time and I know you’ve been made to feel like you’re not beautiful, or good enough, or anything but if you don’t believe in yourself, I believe in you.

“Everybody here believes in you. Your family.

“It doesn’t matter how many times I say or the judges say it or anybody says it, it’s only you [who] is the one that’s going to make the change and the one who needs to believe in you because you are an amazing woman, very inspirational, an amazing mum and incredible dancer. So believe in you, please.”

After he made his comments, Helen gave her best Paso pose before jumping onto the table that separated the dancing couple and Claudia Winkleman to applause from her fellow Strictly 2022 stars.

Taking to Instagram on Sunday night (October 16) after it was revealed they had safely made it through, Helen shared a screenshot of the moment she lept onto the table to show her confidence and wrote: “Sometimes you just got to get on the table and say ‘OLE’.”

She also tagged Gorka in the social media post.

But he took to his own account to thank fans for their support following the results.
